Welcome
My name is Tara, I am a mom of 6 and a wife of 1. Throughout my adult life I have moved many times in several different situations, we have homesteaded on acreage, we have lived on tiny lots, and many times I have found myself traveling for weeks and as far as Alaska with just the kids or home and in the presence of many children who I was to protect as their adult. Always in the back of my mind was, what was my next move should I need to know it, always being prepared for whatever might be. Most times it was just a really bad diaper luckily.
The “millennium” was my first wake up call for me almost 22 years ago, there were talks of all sorts of systems crashing and not being able to work. We skated through that almost disaster with no worries, but the next one wasn’t far behind it.
Being a Mom during 9/11 was life changing, the experience I had was a much different one had I not already had a child. My what if’s and how to plan were much different than they were before. I also experienced how the community truly worked in this situation with other adults.
The next big event was a hurricane. We knew it was coming and it was going to be big, we had everything we needed because that is what I do, a passion of mine. Several days before I asked my husband to go fill all of our cars up and gas tanks, he didn’t hesitate, do you know the lines we saw and the troubles people had getting around, we had friends and family with no power for almost a month, we even opened our home and garden to people who needed fresh greens because they weren’t getting into the area.
As you know, the next for us is currently in progress and it seems to be hit after hit. This time I have been employed by a major supermarket, I was there prior to covid, I was working the day the lines were wrapped around the supermarket, I was there the days the shelves were empty and we couldn’t keep up with simple basic items people deem necessities. Then the Texas ice storm hit and it was a repeat performance and an absolute eye opener to our supply chain and how quickly it can crumble.
